A season for thanksgiving….

This is a wonderful time of year. The air is crisp, clear and cool. The leaves are showing off shades of yellow, orange and crimson. The clouds are swirling in a sea of blue and the sun shines brilliantly through pink, gray and fuchsia dawns and dusks.

“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever.” This psalm comes to mind as I consider the beauty of His earth and this annual changing of the seasons. I am most thankful for faith, family, friends and God’s enduring love.

This blog is dedicated to my mom whose love also endures forever. She is entering a new season in her life. One we have not experienced before now. Her mind is not remembering what she often needs or wants to remember. Her moods shift as she finds it frustrating to navigate the tapestry of her thoughts. As things are misplaced in her physical world, so too words are misplaced in her mental world. We are all experiencing a roller coaster of emotions as we try to adjust to our new normal with mom/Gma.

Mom’s display of anger is often ugly and difficult to be around. Yet, thinking of her before dementia became an issue helps us be present and endure the ugliness of this disease. It is hard not to take her comments personally. It is important to believe that like God’s love, mom’s love endures forever. Thanks be to God. Amen
